What I Work With, Areas of Support

People come to therapy for many reasons, sometimes with clear concerns and sometimes with a sense that something in life feels stuck or overwhelming. I work with a broad range of difficulties, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Trauma
  • Relationship concerns
  • Couples therapy
  • Suicidal thoughts and self-harm
  • Grief and loss
  • Difficult childhood experiences
  • Parenting issues
  • Stress, uncertainty, and work–life balance
  • Workplace issues
  • Communication difficulties
  • Separation and divorce
  • Patterns of behaviour
  • Anger management
  • Phobias
  • Critical incident response

These are the challenges people often name when seeking support. In our work together, we look not only at the immediate difficulties but also at the deeper patterns and experiences that shape how you feel, think, and relate — creating opportunities for lasting change.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

My work is grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy. This approach looks beyond symptoms to explore the unconscious patterns and relational dynamics that can keep difficulties in place. By bringing these dynamics into awareness, therapy creates space for new ways of relating, greater self-understanding, and lasting change.

Other Approaches

While psychodynamic psychotherapy forms the foundation of my work, I may also draw on other approaches where helpful, including:

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT): strategies for managing intense emotions.
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy: practices that support awareness and steadiness in the present moment.
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): structured techniques to shift unhelpful thoughts and behaviours.
  • Psychological First Aid: stabilisation and support in times of crisis.

These approaches allow the work to remain flexible and responsive to your individual circumstances.
